When You Visit

What happens when I visit?

Where do I park?

We meet in Vistancia Elementary School so there is plenty of available parking. Our signs will direct you into the closest parking and into the meeting space.

What happens when I come into the Sunday gathering?

We have a fellowship time that begins at 9:40. When you arrive for the 10:00 a.m. worship you will find many people standing about talking and visiting, drinking coffee and munching on goodies. You'll be invited to join in the fellowship. We have name tags available and encourage you to wear one. We invite you to sign our guest book. Including your email will make it possible for us to send you our weekly e-newsletter so that you can learn more about us. You can unsubscribe at any time with no hassle.

- What about my children?

Spirit Song appreciates and welcomes children. Nursery care is available for infants to three or you are welcome to keep your child with you. Children are invited to participate in the opening singing and a special children's time in the service. Following children's time the four year olds through sixth grade are invited to Sunday school.

We are kid friendly. One of the nice things about meeting in a school gym is there is plenty of space for little ones who like walking around in back or like to play on the floor mat provided.

What happens in worship? What can I expect?

Our worship band will invite us to stand to sing a few praise songs and a hymn and open with prayer. There is a special children's time, a time for prayers of the people, and another hymn or praise song. The scripture for the day is read and a message is given by our pastor.

Following the message is the offering. As a guest you need not feel obligated to participate in the offering unless you wish to contribute to the ministries of Spirit Song. Our service is a gift for you. We would appreciate it if you fill out the 'Communication Card' and place it in the offering plate as it is passed.

We end with another praise song of celebration and benediction. Following the service people are invited to continue in a time of fellowship.

Occasionally there will be special moments inserted in the service. Sometimes people share about a ministry opportunity they participated in. You might arrive on a Sunday that new members are joining or someone is being baptized. We have communion on the first Sunday of each month.

On communion Sundays you will hear an invitation that assures you that communion in our church is not denominationally based. We believe the communion table is the Lord's Table of Grace and it is Jesus who invites you to participate so all are welcome. You will receive a piece of the bread and be invited to dip it in the grape juice and take the two elements together as symbols of Christ's offering for us. You need not participate if you do not choose to.

What happens after I visit?

If you left an email address you'll receive our weekly e-newsletter to help you learn more about us. (You can click unsubscribe if you do not wish to receive it.) You may wish to check out the website found on the bulletin you received. If you left your address you'll receive a thank you card for joining us. If you left a phone number, we'll likely call and ask how you enjoyed our service.

We have two intentions with followup. We want to give you the opportunity to ask questions and we want you to know we hope you'll come again. In addition, we are interested in hearing about your experience with us because we are always seeking to be extravagantly hospitable.

Is the church handicap accessible?

Yes. Everything is on one level, the doorways are wide and their are handicap stalls in the rest rooms. We encourage those who do not stand in worship to sit closer to the front or on the isles or out in the isle a bit, so that you can see the words on the screen when others are standing.

How do I make a prayer request?
Go to the Prayer page (under Connect on the menu). Here you will find our Prayer Board. You can add a prayer request by clicking on Add An Entry, then fill out the form. Click the little box next to 'Are you a human?' (This steps eliminates spam.) Now click 'Add Your Prayer.' Your prayer request will be added to the list and our prayer team will pray for you.

If you would like to receive email notification of prayers as they are posted, click on 'subscribe' and fill in the form. In this way we can be more timely with our prayers.

- Do you have property?
Not yet, although that certainly is our dream and long-range goal. We pray for God's guidance concerning the timing and location of a building. We know that we are the church as a body of people who love Jesus and love serving our neighbors with or without a building.
